Bass players often go unnoticed, especially in rock bands. Name your favorite. You can also name bands or songs that feature awesome bass. And not just rock. Any genre.

My favorite are Rex Brown from Pantera and Cliff Burton from Metallica.

Jeff Caxide - Dunno how technically proficient he might be, but ISIS does some weird stuff with the bass.

Also, John Entwistle, duh.

John Myung from Dream Theater. He has to keep up with Rudess and Petrucci.

Another not so well known bass player is Sean Malone. He does Gordian Knot and a few other things, and played bass on the original OSI cd. The OSI cd was produced and co written by fromer Dream Theater piano player Kevin Moore and had Mike Portnoy on drums.

Another for Geddy Lee.

Oh, and I was blown away when I saw Cheap Trick recently and realized that Tom Petersson was playing a 12 string bass. That was totally cool.

BILLY SHEEHAN

Billy Sheehan is down right sick. I saw this tour when they played at the Hard Rock Cafe in Pittsburgh. I was 1 foot from the stage talk about a dream come true.

Chris Wolstenholme from Muse is an excellent rock-riffing bassist.

The others listed here are all excellent as well.
