Name Resolution Win2000

This is sort of a weird problem that occurred after logging on to another network using DHCP. I am using a Win2000 Pro on a peer to peer network with linksys hubs and a linksys router using DHCP. I am able to get Internet access but am not able to see the other computers on my network. They can see me and if they goto a command prompt and type net view \\ (my IP address) they can see my shared drives but they can't access them. So apparently the only problem is windows can't resolve my computer name. We only use TCP\IP for a network protocol and the properties say Obtain IP and DNS automatically. I don't have any addresses specified for DNS or WINS and my WINS has a setting that says "use Netbios settings from DHCP router. I checked my router setup and didn't see anything about WINS, DNS or Netbios. Any suggestions?

Make sure Internet Connection Sharing is off so there won't be any DHCP conflicts. Right click on network neighborhood and try a find computer.

In this situation I would disable DHCP. I would hardcode my IP's and other info. I would not use DNS. I would make an entry in each computers HOST file, letting it know who both it, and the other guy are. End of story.
I do not know why people use DHCP on a peer to peer network, unless its ICS DHCP.

DHCP is nice if you often add new systems to the network and don't want to worry about configuring. He just needs to get it working.

You'll want to make sure in your TCP/IP protocal settings --> WINS configurations that you have Enable Netbios over TCP/IP enabled.
