Name me some PS3 Action RPGs

Yes, it's another "recommend me a game" thread.

I'm getting a PS3 soon and feel the urge to pile on with some action RPGs that the 360 seems to be sorely lacking in (shame on you and your crappiness Sacred 2 and Kingdom under Fire.)

I think you'll be equally disappointed with the selection of ps3 action RPG's, I don't think very many exist. I honestly can't think of any off the top of my head, maybe Folklore, but that's a japanese game so you might be scared away.

Valkyria Chronicles is a turn-based strategy game with RPG elements, but you should download the demo anyway.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1-2 are the only action RPGs I can think of offhand.

Dragon Age: Origins is coming out this year so you could wait for that.

Oblivion, Fallout 3, Ultimate Alliance and Dark Kingdom would be my top recommendations. I also really like Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and Overlord: Raising Hell, although they can only loosely be called RPG's (I happen to think that Overlord is one of the most underrated games on the PS3).

Demon souls is coming out soon in the US. People that played the JPN version said it was great

PS3 has Demon's souls and Marvel Ultimate Alliance and that's pretty much it (unless you are a masochist, then there are the inferior console ports of PC games like Fallout and Sacred 2.)

There's also Folklore, but while I like the game you'd need to have a very lenient definition of "action" to call it an "action RPG". Mechanically, yes it is an ARPG, but in terms of pacing it's almost as slow as the infinity engine games.

Valkyria Chronicles has ARPG elements, but is a strategy game.
