I had gotten a raincheck for the FUJI DVD+R 25 packs at 47.99 - the rebate (7$ I think it was) and stopped back today to pick them when I saw something new.

Looks like Best Buy is adding 3 new pricing schemes and packages of quality DVD+R's discs that are higher grade, and some say both data AND video recorder on the labels. Data only are usually one notch below.

99$ Verbatim DVD+R's 50 pack

99$ Fuji DVD+R 50pack (2 25 packs wrapped in shrinkwrap with a different sku)

49.99 One Fuji 25 packs, in one plastic shinkwrap, another sku

I keep seeing threads asking for a cheap source for quality DVD+R's. Here it is.

The Verbatims are cleary marked data and video grade and come on one giant spindle.

Even with tax this is cheaper than ordering on the net anyplace I know and its brand name discs.

I don't know if this is a new trend toward lower pricing or a temporary thing, I do know there was only ONE pack of the 50 verbatims left and two each of the fuju 25 and 50 packagages.

sweet deal, is it just me, or would that be $1/disk? that's awesome if these things can burn at full speed on the latest dvd+rw's (is it 2.4x?)

now how about some deals for "superior" dvd-r disks? ;)

There's no difference between Data and video recorder DVD+R media.

It's just a marketing thing, like when you see Music CD+R media.

You may be right about DVDR, but for CDR, there is a difference.
If you use a consumer stand alone burner, it requires the
Music CDR. Computer burners don't care, the stand alone
models look for a code that shows you paid extra so that part
of the money goes to the RIAA (or some such group).

The Fuji DVD+Rs I got from BB were made by Ritek (25 pack spindle). So were the Memorex DVD+Rs I picked up at CUSA (10 pack in jewel cases). Verbatim makes their own, probably (actually made by Mitsubishi, I think) and $2 a disc for Verbatims is very nice, although I remember hearing there were some issues with a batch of Verbatims in Sony DRU500As, but I don't remember if it was DVD+R, -R, +RW, or -RW or whatever incarnation of format insanity.

Since the cost of the Riteks (2.4x) at the discount outlets such as rima.com is right about the same (just under $2, depending on shipping), even the Fuji's are a nice deal esp. if you can get some discount at BB.

I'm not so sure about there NOT being a difference between data dvd+r and dvd+r types that also list video recorders.

I own a dvd recorder and I have less problems with the riteks from dvdmedia superstore and those brands that say video recorder.

I also say this because I have read more than once where someone has had a problem getting a dvd video recorder to use a particular brand/grade of dvd+r disc.

It's possible they were cheap ones, and it also possible as time goes by the mfg consistency and quality just gets better slowly see we see or hear less of this. Then sometimes, it even seems to be the drives. Look at all the things each firmware upgrade for the Sony did, besides 4x speed, I heard it made ALOT of problems go away with the various brands and generics.

Interesting about the Ritek making Fuji? Where can I verify that, FUJI has advertised doing their own mfg in-house so I am curious about that.

Now that thing about the Verbatims not working in the Sony is NASTY. Both the drive and the verbatim dvd brand are not cheap and are supposed to be quality.

Your right. I always think computer burners. Don't understand why people buy stand alone burners, they are much more expensive then a computer burner.

I went by my local store on Friday and they had none, except the 50 count. I would even buy them except that I know that as soon as I do there will be a $1 per sale.
