I'm looking to spend the summer reading up on all the classics, historical books, and influential books that I should probably have read some time sooner.

So, if you know of any books, please list em. I'm thinking about stuff along the lines of Vonnegut, Orwell, Huxley, etc.

thanks

lol. There's nothing you can do to make yourself seem more intelligent. You maxed out your genetic potential when you learned how to flush a toilet. Sorry.

I did not ask whether or not there was something I could do to make myself seem more intelligent.

The Screwtape letters
The sorrows of young Werther

That ought to keep you busy.

Gosh, you're allocating an entire summer to becoming more "intillectual." Well, far be it from me to discourage anyone from reading. I might suggest easing into it by starting with Classic Comics.

Black Rednecks and White Liberals. Never has a book been more relevant, and it will change the way you view race and racial relations.

Is that what you did?

Yup, when I was 5 or 6. But, maybe you're just a late bloomer.

I can recommend going to the library though. Enlarging your perspective on the world is an honorable pursuit. While you can read anywhere, changing your physical habits aids in changing your mental ones. As a primarily self educated man, making a habit of going to the library helped me make a habit of critical thinking and reading. Plus, it's dirt cheap entertainment. :)
