Kind of hard to explain, so maybe my example will help to understand.

I love getting boxes -- different sizes and shapes -- because I sell a lot of stuff online and it's always nice to have tons of boxes to fit things just perfectly in.

What kind of 'junk' do you like?

Computers bc at this point, who the hell cares how fast it is, we've reached a point where most are fast enough that ppl can't tell the diff. Depreciation puts the nail in the coffin

I don't like junk. We throw away/recycle things we don't need and don't keep any clutter. Garage, attic, and basement are empty.

Tin can crankcase heaters. Good MOT ballast, low watt density and don't make noise or start fires on long burns.

Oh and nipples. I have lots and lots of nipples. (piece of pipe with male threads on each end for the non plumber types!)

Junk computers. It doesn't matter how old or beat up it is. If I see a computer in the trash, it's like early xmas :^D

Old sneakers. I never get rid of them because I think one day I might need an old pair to get dirty.

Computer cables and random wires. Only reason they havent been thrown in the trash is because they are in a box inside a closet where I dont see them.

I save Jolt battery bottles.

They make excellent banks. And a change bucket in the car. Also good for home defense once filled with money.

Used board games. I have 10 copies of monopoly, 3 copies of diplomacy, 3 copies of Axis and Allies (original version), 4 copies of classic Risk... it continues. These are not collector condition, but yard sale condition. I just have to buy em.

Old board games are actually pretty cool. It's interesting to see how the graphics change over time. I don't collect them, but it takes all my willpower to not do so. I was at the thrift shop a couple of weeks ago, and I was tempted to get a backgammon set just because I liked the groovy 70s graphics :^D

Not any one item in particular, I just collect clutter, I guess.

I suppose CPU heatsink/fans would do. I have a bunch of Orb-style ones that came from an old Alpha server, several Socket A ones (like 12), a couple of P4 ones, and two or three old (talking Gefore4-era) GPU heatsinks.

A costume jewelry necklace my aunt gave me before she went psycho. It's not valuable and it's not emotionally-valuable but I like it anyway.

Otherwise, maybe t-shirts? I have a whole bunch that I NEVER wear but they seem to worthwhile to get rid of.
