If you guys haven't watched it, check out The Prisoner, not the recent mini series, but the one from 67. At least check out the first few episodes.

I haven't read all this (no time) but my thoughts on some sci-fi series'

Stargate SG1 - Probably the gold standard of sci-fi imho. Very likable characters and some very interesting sci-fi episodes. It went 10 seasons for a reason. Yeah the last few seasons aren't that great, but from about seasons 1 to 7 it's quality. 9/10

Battlestar Galatica - Quality show that easily outpaces the original. IMO this and SG1 are the best sci-fi shows ever made. 9/10

Star Trek Next Generation - I loved this as a kid but I've watched it recently and while it has some awesome episodes it also has a lot of crap ones. Hit and miss imho, but saved by a likable cast and good captain (picard is the man). 8/10

Deep Space 9 - Probably better episodes than TNG but I didn't like the cast as much. A good show though. Some of the episodes like The Visitor are some of the best in the genre. 7.5/10

Voyager - Hit and miss, I prefer DS9 and TNG from the star trek universe 6/10

Enterprise - See above. The last two seasons were pretty good but Archer didn't do it for me. 6/10

Baylon 5 - Interesting story but some hammy acting and the sfx are pretty outdated. 6/10

X-Files - Again, loved this as a kid but some of it has not aged well. Some of it is a bit outdated now but there's great chemistry between Mulder and Scully and some of the episodes are quality. 7.5/10

Fringe - The "new" X-Files and I really enjoyed the first few season, but the final season was awful and taints the show. I would still recommend it though. 7.5/10

SG Atantis - It's ok, and very watchable but not up to SG1 standard. 7/10

SG Universe - Same as above

Atlantis and universe were not "very watchable"... and if SG1 is the gold standard, gold is worthless... Putting 100 enemies to mindlessly kill in half the episodes is not "very watchable"...

SGU was a character drama, not gate of the week. This put off a lot of people.

Rush was a great character, as was colonel Young. I really enjoyed their dynamic. It's really a travesty the way the show was handled.

Yeah he wanted to rule the galaxy, but he wanted to do it with family at his side. Tragically, that was his downfall. Lore was a more interesting character than Data.

He also attacked his creator twice.. once wiping out the planet, and the second attacking him physically, just after he stole the emotion chip meant for Data... yeah, great guy!

I didn't say a great guy, I said more interesting character. For the most part, I would rather watch the handful of episodes with Lore than the n number of seasons with just Data. I guess maybe Barkley was interesting as well, but he was just a part timer.

"Character drama" doesn't have to mean "ship full of assholes". The later is not at all what Stargate is about. Stargate is fundamentally rooted in the heroic future.

The first season or two was awesome but if I recall it went downhill very fast.

Yeah, it was good for the first couple seasons, then dropped fast. My three favorite episodes:
Prince of Wails, Love Gods and The Young and Relentless

I hate all of you. You made me download Farscape just now. 55GB?!?! Crap, now my 1tb drive is finally full. I even had to redirect where uTorrent downloads to, since my SSD doesn't have anywhere near that much space available. I guess I'm going to have to go to microcenter tomorrow and buy a new 3GB HD.

Anyway, I agree with most of the comments, I'm anti-DR Who, and Pro SG:U. I really wish they had picked up SG:U for another season, although I think that the issue is that they were trying to write it as a continuing series, when it should have been planned to be a 2-3 season miniseries right from the start.

Considering you could get the blu ray set for 18 bucks and support the show and the potential for future shows like this, you're a cheap POS for pirating it. It's even on Prime for free.

You suck dude.

Where do you see the complete set for $18? Each season is going for more than that on Amazon.

There's a Blu-Ray boxset you can get (doesn't include Peacekeeper Wars) I think I paid $40 for it last year sometime. It's the only TV boxset I own. Great show and quality while not awesome, isn't bad for it's age.

Keep in mind that Farscape starts off very poorly..I usually recommend watching the first episode to learn the setting and then skip to around episode 16.. it gets good starting really on the last episode of season 1... Brilliant and daring show, but a veeeery slow start.

Also, the sound is 5.1... hearing it from a dvd or blur ray is worth it.

Yeah, but $18 for a complete set on blu ray is outstanding. Lowest I see right now for Farscape is $77.
