"We Are the World" - that song had just about every pop star alive in the '80s putting in their two cents.

Can we count The Beatles? I absolutely love them, although putting them into a genre is tough... especially considering their varying music style over the years. Poppy rocky. :)

Come Together
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds

not saying thats the best work from the Beatles, as I have no favorite song.. but those songs I listened to recently, and love. And can be argued as poppy. ;)

I don't know... it's been 25 years since Billie Jean was first release and I've yet to hear a more catchy or recognizable intro, and the song only gets better from there. The bass line was an instant classic.

This is a long debate among MJ fans. I still believe BJ beats Beat it just because Billie Jean has had more staying power and has a bit more substance.

Can't argue w/ that.

Rock Lobster.

in terms of peak pop(ularity), you're going to be hard pressed to find something that beats the macarana.

i agree 100%!

I disagree. I think MJ's vocals completely carry the song. AAF just uses the guitar to carry it through.

There are at least two people with taste on ATOT :p

I have to agree as well. I got eaten alive in the last thread asking about which covers people thought were better than the originals.
