The constant wining sound is also for defense as it annoyed the attacker enough to want to leave..
I thought that it might sound threatening if it was slowed down, maybe like a lion growling...so much for that idea.
Even at very slow speeds, it still doesn't sound threatening. It sounds more like an rhinoceros moaning in agony after downing a few too many jugs of windshield wiper fluid.
A little faster than that, and it sounds like a sick cat.

At around 45% of normal speed, I think it could pass for a normal, hungry cat.
