NAM? What The

I have been reading forums about the new 6.66 Nvidia drivers. People have been saying do not install NAM. What the hell does NAM stand for?? And i have also heard not to install the IDE drivers either. Is there any truth to this.

Number Assignment Module. The NAM is the electronic memory in the cellular phone that stores the telephone number and electronic serial number. Phones with dual- or multi-NAM features offer the user the option of registering the phone so that it will have two or more phone numbers.

I guess someone has adapted that technology to a video card - this sort of thing leads to acronym pollution and confusion.

Ok that is what i thought it was. So it it true should you not instal it and the IDE drivers? Should i just use ZoneAlarm or somthing?

Yeah - that thought came to me as well - except acronyms are case sensitive - always upper. 🙂

(count this one and it's 7 replies, sorry, can't really explain in full details)

I believe it is the Nvidia firewall as well. In order to uninstall it, go to the add/remove programs and unistall "Nvidia Network Access Manager"
