Naked CPUs

i've seen them around...just wanna basically wanna know the pros and cons of getting one and using an XP-120 HSF on one, as i can get a 4000+ nnaked chip (looks totally black :S) for REALLY cheap elsewhere (won't say place or price).

temps are lower on naked CPUs meaning higher OCs

con: might damage the CPU while unliding it

also, you might crush the core when you install the hsf. i dont think you can use an xp120 because it will crush it. am i wrong?

XP120 will crush it for sure, you'll need a screw down heatsink, like the Big Typhoon. Basically there is no point unless you want to possibly damage the core and turn it into an ornament, to much risk for to little gain IMO.

Yeah make sure the core/processor is in perfect condition and not scratched

ok...so i won't buy it then...thanks a lot.

i wouldnt mind a nice 4000+....however i dont think im willing to take the chance based on the info i have just read.
