http://www.nailjack.com/

Just returned a Stanley nail puller to HD cuz it sucked. Rounded off nail heads, leading to a stem. With nothing to grab onto, no way to get the nail out & didn't wanna just hammer it in. Got it out w/ a pair of vise grips & used those as a remover.....BUT......then I stumbled upon the nail jack.

I don't need both, just one or the other, but don't know whether to get the "jack" or the "hunter". Looks like the hunter's just smaller.

Anybody?

Hi redgtxki!

I happen to know a thing or two about the Nail Jack and Nail Hunter. I would say that most likely for the most applications I would say the Nail Hunter will suit your needs. It is the most ubiquitous tool for the job.

However, the Nail Jack also provides a very powerful application, taking on any larger task mainly for your pro grade guys. However, both have amazing capabilities that can replace virtually any nail puller on the planet.

Thanks,

Trevor

It is amazing what people will join to post :p

Do you work for that company? It looks like an interesting hammer although I have never had an issue using a regular ripping bar.

Hmmm I have used a nail puller many times and I never had any problems with it. Only difference between a regular nail puller and what you posted is it has grips to push together vs. just pulling the nail puller off the nail and well not to mention the extra $5 over the most expensive one on HD's website.

Odd concept. I've used nail pullers for over 30 years without the problems you list in your "commercial."

CAN a person pull the head off of a nail? You betcha. I do it occasionally, but I don't need to buy some fancy nail-pulling pliers to deal with it. At the worst, I grap a pair of diagonal cutters or kleins from my tool box. USUALLY, a decent hammer will suffice as well.
