I repair a lot of these types of jobs. We charge a flat rate of $250 plus parts. The jack is about $10 to $50 (some of the dell plugs are on the higher side because they have a "data pin".

The hard part's actually DE-soldering the old jack. Once you do, clean the area good, get off all of the old solder and clean the area with a toothbrush and rubbing alcohol. Solder in your new jack and you're good to go. I suggest testing power to the board before you put it all of the way back together though as it sucks to get it all together, realize it still isn't working then have to take it apart again.

One of the most common problems amongst laptops. I see someone come in everyday with this problem. You can try re-soldering the joints.
