We finally decided at home to replace the old NAD T 755 surround reciever. Surround is something we havent used for many years now and we only used it as a stereo reciever. However with all the digitalization we havent used the radio part much at all.
So today we went and bought a complete digital amplifier thats ready for all the modern demands. We will add a MDC BluOS module around december that gives app control, streaming, wifi/ethernet, bluetooth and so on to finalize the setup of its current requirements.
We use it with a pair of Dali Concept 8 speakers. And the entering into the digital age have been a very surprising and pleasent experience. But it does feel wierd to replace the 16KG T 755 with something half its weight, yet almost twice as powerful.
We got the TV and a PC connected with optical cables to the amplifier. HTPC/Wii U goes via the TV. And any radio needs we may still have can be done via the TV or webradio from a PC/HTPC. Later we can stream directly from tablet, smartphone and so on as well.
