Can they do that? I figured I wouldn't argue - I can just return them the day after X-Mas and keep the box. But how can they force you to buy something else in order to get the XBOX?

Best Buy made a public apology for that. According to Microsoft they should not be forcing you as microsoft has no game bundle for xbox!
 
Oh I know somebody else would have bought them. That's why I bought it 🙂 God the guy was SOOO pushy on the warranty so it made me feel good to say "Nope sorry I had to buy the 4 games or I would have".

$60 a pop for the games made it hurt

If it is advertised that the only systems they have are part of a bundle, then they can get away with it although it still isn't the right thing for them to do. If they do what Best Buy did, which is advertise stand alone system prices in the newspaper, then require a bundle, they could get in trouble for bait-and-switch.
 
They didn't advertise it, well - they just announced it over the loudspeaker. I gotta think I could take them to another store and return em...
 
Now that you've included a pic of the games, why would you even want to return them? They are all great games, especially quake and cod. Or did it cost too much? 240 bites me too bro 😉
