I've got an Intel n440bx server board and it has two fan connectors. They look like the normal 3-pin fan headers except they have two tabs that get in the way of normal fan plugs. I cut out the little tabs so that my fans could plug in (92mm Delta Sensflows) but they wont spin up. I didnt test the connections with a multimeter but that can be done later.

What kind of fans are supposed to be used with these plugs or what can I do to get them to work?

I had one of those, with a P-II/400 cpu, back in the Win95 era. Mine was a POS, and I never did get full value from my investment. But when I gave it away a couple of years ago, Intel still had a downloadable copy of the manual on their web site. I never killed that bookmark (Mozilla uses bookmarks, and I seriously hate IE), and just within the last month, ran across it and it was still working. If you need it, maybe I can dig down and locate it again.

The case mine was in had no mounts for any fans, and it didn't seem to run hot at all.

From the manual it appears that the +12v and the Fan sensor lines are swiched on these connections. Should I just swap the wires on the fan or might this be bad and I should just run them off a 12v lead from the PSU
