Hi Folks

About to move to a Soyo Dragon+ & I'm not sure where a sensible place is to start on the memory settings. There are a lot more choices to worry about than on PC133. Where do I set things as a start or how do I even find out what my memory is made to do? What's the best way to test my settings to see how stable it is?

I've never been one for FSB O/Cing, just want to tweak the memory settings to the most efficient.

Help! I'm going into completely new territory!!

Thanks
Miah

List all the memory settings that you have available in the BIOS.

Generally the idea is to have as many of those settings as low as possible, such as CAS. If you have high quality RAM, you can start off with the most aggressive settings and test for stability. If the system is not stable, back off on some of those settings until you do reach stability.

I'm still in the getting ready to move stage. Got the board, got 2x256 of Infineon PC2100, got the latest bios update on floppy. Just haven't yet installed everything in the 'Ol PC here & done a fresh Install from scratch since I've got a enough deals going currently that I don't want my PC down for any length of time.

Also what would I use to "test for stability"? All I'm currently using for benchmarking/testing my system right now is 3DMark2001. Do I need to install something like Sci-soft Sandra?

Thanks
Miah

for memory use a program called Memtest86.
for CPU use Prime95.

check the 1st thread posted in the OC forum for a whole list of goodies and where to get them :)
