n00b question: Updating OSX 10.4

Software Update will not update your system between major revisions of the OS (e.g.: 10.4 -> 10.5). It updates more incremental revisions (e.g.: 10.5.5 -> 10.5.8) and also delivers security updates, Apple software (iLife, iWork, Pro Studio) updates, and more.

I'm just thinking that nothing Apple flavoured comes for free, so is there a catch? I really need to get this thing to 10.5 minimum.

If you are comparing it to windows think of
10.x increments like XP, Vista, 7.

I thought you have to pay to upgrade between those 😕

just have a buddy give you his old 10.5 since you have some really old hardware i'm guessing and go to town.

10.6 is reserved for intel cpu's
10.7 is reserved for 64-bit EFI (non core duo) intel cpu's
