n00b question. do win2k drivers always work for xp?

got a mouse in today. the site says they are working on winxp drivers, yet they have win2k/98/95 drivers availible. got me to thinking, do win2k drivers always work? or have i just been lucky? i havent tried using win2k drivers for it. wonder why they would state on the page that no xp drivers were out yet if win2k would work fine.

it's a boomslang 2000 btw and i knew before hand that xp drivers werent out. i couldnt pass on the price.

Most win2k drivers worked for me in winxp. The only one that didn't work for me was for my Guillemot Muse sound card

My USB Visoneer scanner (which I only bought about 6 monts ago) makes my XP system REALLY UNSTABLE and prone to blue screens when I use the 2k Driver.. and thats what visioneer said to use.... of course their web site says it might not work...

It seems to be VERY iffy if the drivers will work, and many many people are finding out that their hardware is not supported in XP, and the manfacturors have said they will not be releasing drivers...

Personally I think this is because business are not using XP... they are all sticking to NT 4.0 or 2000... and most plan on skipping XP all together.

Why is that a suprise?

XP is aimed at the home market. Xp Pro is just a nod to the corporate desktop. It's not meant to be the revalation that 2k pro was/is.

Hell, I still find too many shops on NT4. Let alone XP.
