ok first off i have
comcast internet
frontpage 2000 SP3

My problem is when i try to use forms, you know to submit information using textboxes that it gives me an error. i want to have the results of the submission in the form emailed to me so i

>rightclick on the form area
>form properties
>enter a email address into the send to portion

then i get this error message
"This form is being created on a Disk-based web or the frontpage server extensions hae not been configured to send email. please direct your system administrator or internet serivce provider to the instructions in "setting up emial options on windows" or "setting up email options in unix" in the server extensions resource kit. if you do not have the serv." bla bla bla

then it wants me to remove the send to email portion. so i figure, alright so my pc does not have frontpage extensions. i mean isnt that for the people hosting it anyway. so i send it up to comcast. and i get this message when i try to submit it.

"FrontPage Run-Time Component Page
You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a web server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function properly.

This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you publish this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed.

Click the <Back> arrow to return to the previous page"

does comcast not have front page extions? or am i setting it up wrong?

btw, no email is sent to address specified

My guess is that Comcast does not support Frontpage extensions. You might want to call them to be sure.

Even though it's different ISP's. When I wanted to setup a small webpage using Road Runner, I went through all the 'yes' 'no' questions on the webpage and they asked me if I wanted FP extentions to be setup on the site.

Maybe that is something similar to yours?

incase anyone cares, this is what comcast tech support says.
Dear Schadenfroh,

Thank you for your message concerning the Comcast High-Speed Internet
service. We understand you wanting to know if we use Front Page
Extensions via our webpage portal and we can help you.

To answer your question, we do not offer support or support Front Page
Extensions.

Here is a work around that will enable you to publish to your webpage.

please follow these steps.

1) Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
2) Double click Internet Options.
3) Click the Advanced tab.
4) Make sure that Enable Folder View for FTP Sites is checked.
5) Open up Internet Explorer.
6) In the browser, enter the following address:
ftp://username:password@mywebpages.comcast.net/mywebpages (replace
username with your username and password with your password).
7) Now the customer can open My Computer and select the files they wish
to upload. Have them highlight the files, and select Edit and then Copy
(or right-click the files and click copy).
8) Back in the Internet Explorer window, then can select Edit and then
Paste (or right-click anywhere in the IE window and select Paste. This
will upload the files to your Webspace).

Additional Considerations:

1) The filenames of anything put on the webspace should be lower case
with NO SPACES.
2) The actual page can be viewed at the following URL:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/username (where username is enter your
username).
3) If if you are actually posting your own site, the first page of
MYWEBPAGES must be named index.html (index.htm will not suffice).
4) If you are just interested in posting some pictures or files but
have no knowledge of web design, just delete the index.html file. This
will allow for a directory browse of all the files/folders in
mywebpages.
5) MYWEBPAGES does not support front page extensions nor does it have
any kind of script / server side capability.
6) If you are actually interested in getting into MYFILELOCKER, then
simply substitute MYFILELOCKER for MYWEBPAGES in the ftp address.

We are unable to provide you with a reference number due to system
upgrades at this time.

If there is anything else that we can help you with regarding this or
any other issue, you can reach our technical support line at
1-800-266-2278. You can also contact us via Comcast online support, or
visit our web page at: http://comcast.comcastonline.com/help/

Thank you for choosing Comcast.

Sincerely,

John Mac.
