n00b - cpu replacement on asus board

I have a great new asus a8n-sli board with AMD 3800, and I have no need for immediate change. I'm thinking dual core next year though -- but have NEVER replaced the CPU. This is a Velocity Micro machine. Is it hard or risky to unlock the heatsink and cpu and replace it with retail boxed cpu when they come out? Do I have to do the gluing and related stuff on the heat sink?

I'm a real noob at this; just trying to get a sense whether I should even THINK about it next year on AMD dual cores...

Thanks for tolerating simple stuff.

It's pretty easy. To unlock, just flip the lever 180°, and remove the HSF. If you have anything similar to AS5 on the core, you'll want to remove the HSF while it's still warm.

Related stuff- All you should have to unplug would be the CPU fan.
