i have the ecs k7s5a with winxp and built in lan works great and i have a static ip for serving/hosting etc. but i would like to add my linksys lne100tx so that i can SWITCH my dorm cat5 cable between them when i am not hosting/dont need static ip. i assume there is really nohing to this but would windows/aim/ie/outlook get really freaked if i just stopped one connection and plugged in another?

No, just disable the connection, unplug the Cat5 cable then plug into whatever NIC you want then enable that connection alone, nothing to it really.
