At least prostitution is a victimless crime, depending on how you look at it. I'd rather governors do this than have state troopers drive them around going 120mph, which endangers the lives of hundreds of people. And yes, that picture on CNN is hilarious.

He is sooooooo dead.

In other news, apparently he isn't resigning. What a tool if true.

i honestly don't care if hes banging a hooker as long as he's not stealing from his workplace to pay for it. i dont think that the things are really related like some people seem to think.

its like saying that people who downloaded an mp3 before cannot be trusted

i think the call for resignation is due to his stance against crimes like this. like the person above who said, i personally dont think prostitution should be illegal, but for this person to prosecute so many and then turn around and do the same thing is just hypocritical. if i were the booker for EmperorClubVIP and saw him I would sound the alarm and call the TV stations if I confirmed it wasn't a setup (which would also be dumb).

just like a preacher or a congressman who insists that gays are ruining the world and then turn around and have sex with teenage boys, or if a person working for RIAA yet uses BitTorrent everyday, those are hypocrites and should be shot.

I'm in favor of letting consensual adults do whatever they want with eachother for money or for free, but the fact is, he broke the law.

if he stepped down today, would the lieutenant governor serve as gov till 2010? I'd love to see a Hillary v Rudy gubernatorial race. :p

I'd be inclined to agree with you if it wasn't his role as the attorney general that got him elected as governor. The guy made a career out of putting people like himself in jail. Do you think Payola is any worse than prostitution? That was one of the horrible crimes he investigated.

You mean Ed Rendell? I thought it was only 100 mph. :p Hopefully he at least wore his seatbelt, unlike our idiot governor.

it would set them up significantly better to run again.

i'd love Rudy to be mayor of NYC again. so I wouldn't mind him being the NY Governor. President? not with his "9/11" attitude.

Sorry i guess this is turning P&N.

Hah, they do.

They also would have been 14 and 12 when that picture was taken.

And he has a freaky smile.

He was a John.

he is Client #9 and they nabbed him with a federal wiretap
he is likely to be prosecuted for some type of bank fraud as the methods the payments were being made to the ho's were fraudulent

The problem is, in his attempt to hide his relatively minor crime which would have only tarnished his image, he broke several federal laws dealing with financial transactions.

Solicitation charges are the least of his worries.

Well, Spitzer and his aides are still in trouble over using state troopers to try to dig up dirt on the NY State Republican Senate leader too.

Oh and before any Democrat wants to chime in on David Vitters mess.

There is HUGE different between Vitters case and Spitzers case.

Vitter was never charged because of statute of limitations IIRC. He also would have been charged with solicitation, which is a relatively minor crime.

Spitzer on the other hand, has solicitation, violation of the Mann Act, and various financial crimes he can be charged with.

IE: Spitzer has several federal charges facing him. Vitter at best could have had a state/local solicitation charge.

Spitzer is a dumbass, he knew the financial regulations, but skirted them to cover up his relatively minor crime.

ABC

The federal investigation of a New York prostitution ring was triggered by Gov. Eliot Spitzer's suspicious money transfers, initially leading agents to believe Spitzer was hiding bribes, according to federal officials.

It was only months later that the IRS and the FBI determined that Spitzer wasn't hiding bribes but payments to a company called QAT, what prosecutors say is a prostitution operation operating under the name of the Emperors Club. [...]

Spitzer, who made his name by bringing high-profile cases against many of New York's financial giants, is likely to be prosecuted under a relatively obscure statute called "structuring," according to a Justice Department official.

Structuring involves creating a series of financial movements designed to obscure the true purpose of the payments.

Yeah....had he been a Republican, it probably would have been a gay prostitution ring. (based on the recent trend)

Oh, I'm surprised you'd view that as a bad thing, knowing certain political and "moral" sentiments you feel free to lambast the rest of us with.

Just a couple of years ago, the New Jersey Democratic Governor Jim McGreevey was forced to resign after it was revealed that he gave his gay lover a position in the NJ Homeland Security for which he wasn't qualified. He had a wife and two kids.

So basically, both sides are filled with morons, scum, and jerks.
