N>Help picking RAM for opty 144

Hey everyone. Im new to the forums so please excuse me if i picked the wrong category to post in.

Well i just recently got my Opteron 144 for $179. Seems like they're jumping like crazy in prices so I figured i should buy one now. I got the CAB2E 0548EPAW stepping. Anyone hear about this particular one? I know the CAB2E are supposed to be hit and miss.

I plan to overclock this thing sometime in the future if i ever need the speed. So for that reason i picked the asrock 939dual-sata2, which i read here is a decent OC'er for its price. What worries me is what memory to pick. I dont have much of a budget to spend to get the good ram. I was looking at the Corsair TWINX512-3200c2 for $65 at newegg. It has 2-3-3-6 for the timing but I dont know if the timing matters when it comes to OC'ing or not. Do u guys think this is a good choice? Can you guys recommend anything around $100 or preferrably under $100?

Im confused. They all seem to have the same specs but the ones you linked me to are just more expensive. Is there a difference Im not seeing? and does it really matter that much that I buy the more expensive one?

Different RAM overclocks differently.

What are you trying to understand? When you OC your processor, you OC your ram as well, unless you use a RAM divider.

Can someone else expand on this? I'm off to sleep..

You are getting a Opty to overclock, who doesn't. It needs to be paired with a nicer set of RAM sticks to optimize how high it can reach with the OC. CAS2 isn't available with the value line, and usually the more expensive lines are tested more rigorously to meet specs (less prone to failures and errors) and use higher quality memory such as the Samsung TCCD's.

Oh ok. Sorry, Im new to the overclocking world. I was only familiar with OC'ing the old Durons and Athlons. OK so I need to buy good ram. Any easy way to tell which is gonna be a good OC'er? Thanks again, u guys have been of great help.
