I think it's safe to assume that we're all in the same boat here. Mind if I grab an oar?
Between the nForce4 boards, the VIA K8T890 boards AND the ATi RX480 chipset-based boards, we're all gonna be fat n' happy in no time at all. The choices will be ours to make and they will most certainly be plentiful. We do, however, have a bit longer to wait for the "garden to sprout", so to speak. I figure that just after the first of the year, we'll be golden.
So, if you can hold out for another 8 to 10 weeks (yeah, I know), then I, you, we will be doin' one big happy dance. Additionally, by that time, more PCI-e video cards will be out and will most likely be a few bucks cheaper than they are now too.
The question is, how long are you willing to wait? I don't think another 8 to 10 weeks is really all
that painful. Do you? The more companies (ASUS, ABit, Gigabyte, etc.) that crank out the various versions of their boards (Single, SLI and the like), the lower prices will be. They know that everyone is clammering for the latest and greatest and costs are reflective of this. Case in point: look at how expensive an enthusiast X800 XT PE costs. Need I say more. However, with more choices come lower prices. It's the good ol' "Supply and Demand" hittin' us hard at the moment, but this won't last too much longer, I would imagine.
That's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
