N*E*R*D

The new N*E*R*D album comes out in a few days and they are giving out a full audio preview on their website. The broadband quality sounds really good, so if you like N*E*R*D you should check it out. If you have never heard of N*E*R*D but like rap or trying new things check it out anyway.

You are supposed to play through this bullshit game to get to it:
http://www.n-e-r-d.com/game/index.asp?usher=1
but in the top right corner you can enter in the pasword "thrasher" and get to the preview.

I know how a lot of you feel about rap and since every one of you is going to post in this thread I will just start out by saying "your opinion has been noted".

I realise that this is simply pop rap, but it is pop rap with sick ass beats.

People's energies are made of their souls. When you die, that energy may disperse but it isn't destroyed. Energy cannot be destroyed. yeah, alternative rap is more accurate. when i went to sprite liquid mix tour late last year, n.e.r.d. was headlining. all my friends* expected the neptunes. when they came out playing rock songs, the crowd parted like the red sea. i stuck around until 'provider' and i was gone also. their stage presence wasnt the greatest. i didnt go to see them though, i went to see talib kweli and the roots. it seemed 75-80% of the crowd had the same intentions, because it sparse after n.e.r.d.'s 3rd song.

I went to the Liquid Mix tour and the Roots were not on the bill in my area. I was PISSED. I agree with you 100%, N*E*R*D gave one of the worst live shows I've ever heard, I actually left that show liking them less.

Lol, I don't think it's that way out, but then again, I'm pretty out there myself. Regardless, I didn't say it, a member of N*E*R*D did.

exactly! lol, when i told my friends this past week that n.e.r.d.'s new album was dropping, they all rolled their eyes and said 'oh no!'. the first album was pretty good. but the live performance changed my feelings about their music. but on a side note, its always a treat to see the roots, as i think they are probably one of the best live bands ive seen.

Okay, I'll let you off the hook. 🙂

Pharell is a good name for a N*E*R*D.

I love the name 😀
I disage with your statement, granted no comercial rap is going to get to the level of Aesop Rock's Labor Days or another suitably genius production, commerical rap has it's place and it's perfect if you want to cruise around and listen to something to nod your head to.

It's hard to make such a blanket statement like that take The Roots for example, they have acheived pretty good commercial success and they are probably one of the best rap groups around, above or below ground.

Check out Thrasher.

Don't like that much, I don't think its Bad but I don't think its good either. So far the only song i semi like is She Wants To Move

Imagine the Neptunes making rap music without a sampler, tape loop or drum machine--and playing their own instruments, and that's pretty much N*E*R*D in a nutshell. This album adds a bit of a retro sound that I almost wanna call "NuMotown" but I'm not sure that's entirely accurate...some elements of The Beatles, southern rock, and other sh*t thrown in.

BTW, the album's alright...not really any standout tracks IMHO but its nice to listen to as a whole. The tracks all sound the same to me, but I like "She Wants to Move", "Breakout", and "Drill Sergeant".

Eh, different strokes for different strokes. I think Thrasher is one of the best track on the album.
