mythtv server and WHS

Ive just built a WHS server and have been playing with some of the upnp addins to get media from it to my xbox 360 and other devices.

Ive also been wondering what to use to get some DVR functions and I statred thinking what if I threw together another box of spare parts and put in 3 tuners. Using something like mythtv this box could sit in the attic closet and do nothing but DVR functions 24\7 and send the files over to the WHS server for storage. I dont want to add tuners to WHS as id like to seperate the two functions. Anyone have any thoughts?

I'm not sure why you'd want to seperate the two functions (the power you save in using one machine rather than two will add up quickly - plus heat concerns too...) but sure, you can easily set up scripts to copy the .avi/.divx/etc. data files from the mythtv box to the WHS box (to the videos share) and then from there your xbox360 will play them perfectly.

Well the only reason it was coming to mind was that A. I dont know what decent DVR software for WHS there is. and B. I could have the DVR box caould spend it's days recording stuff and if I ever wanted to replace it it would be easier.

What could I use on WHS to do recordings?

http://www.sagetv.com/whs.html - I haven't used it but it looks like it would fit the bill. Otherwise any TV tuner software that can be installed in Vista _should_ work (check first) on the WHS. Try the typical suspects first (SageTV and the others) but they _should_ work.
