Its on discovery now, but ive seen the episode before, and ive seen the MXC clip.

What do you guys think? i dont think they did enough experiments to say it was actually busted, and i dont see anything on the MXC video to show that its fake.

Mythbusters != science

It's fun to watch (especially Kari) but I don't take them as definitive on anything.

Kari is an annoying vegetarian. The show would be better if you could actually trust its conclusions.

Well, you just can't trust the busted ones, but you can trust the plausible ones.

Kari is cute as geek chics go. I wouldn't call her hot on her own, she's hot when compared to other women who dig science.

I tend to believe that the MXC vid is real. The fact that Mythbusters was unable to duplicate it is meaningless. They proved that the bottles had enough lift to make it happen, it was their rig that failed. A better engineered backpack would likely have been successful.

They had a guy on MXC that was launched via pressurized water rockets, that were either 2L or 3L bottles pressurized with air and water. The guy flew like 40 feet.

can we see of the clip you are talking about?

and mythbusters sucks as since...2 favorites when they disproved themselves on the walking vs. running in the rain
also when they sunk a boat and claimed people couldnt be sucked down with a sinking ship, even though it has happened to people

I dunno what you people see in those girls. :confused:

Mythbusters is fun to watch, but a lot of their experiments are so strangely done. They spend months doing the rolling stone one, but just hours/days on the water rockets?

Well duh! Got a method for making moss grow overnight? They of course spend extra time on anything that requires plants to grow. They spent extra time on the one with the talking/yelling/music impacting plant growth. They spent extra time on the ones where the pig rotted underground and in the Corvette. They had to.

The fact is that they often do their experiments in ways that "pwove" that something is a myth, yet clearly leave ways that the so called myth might actually be real.

You missed my point. Who gives a flying ****** if the moss grows? It just didn't fit the mold of blowing stuff up and causing destruction. It's like Kari decreed that they shall do moss growing on a rock :roll:

I lived with a vegan once and she's one of the coolest people I know. The fact that she was a vegan was never a problem, even when we all went out to restaurants. She wasn't preachy at all. In fact, she was one of the best roommates I've ever had.

Kari bothers me. She is really whiny.

The main problem that Mythbusters had with the rocket backpack wasn't so much the amount the thrust from the waterbottle backpack but from controlling the direction. Every test they did with a dummy looked dangerous. Throw in the fact that they had problems releasing the valves at the same time for every water bottle.
