Its a fact!

Proven by DocSmarts (aka IdiotBoy):

My dad's Athlon XP 1800+ setup w/ EP-8KHA+ caught fire when my foot accidentally knocked the power button when I was installing a water cooler on the CPU to overclock it. Thankfully, I had a pitcher of water for the water cooler by my side. So I quickly poured the water onto the motherboard and CPU. They are both ruined and I am trying to get a refund.

Now I need a replacement computer, all of the accessories and peripherals are still in good shape, it is just the motherboard and CPU that are ruined. I am never going to use an AMD setup again because of its high flammability. This is really not funny after what has happened to me. I decided to turn to Intel, but I require some help in selecting a motherboard for the Northwood.

Now since he has sworn an affidavit, while holding a bible and stroking a rabbit's foot that it is not in any way his fault that it happened. We can only conclude that AMD is soley at fault.

Now we must do our duty and report this obviously overlooked bug to AMD. Also in the interest of safety we must throw out all socket A AMD systems and replace them with non-flammable Intel systems and boycott all AMD products until they admit culpability and pay for DocSmarts' system.

fact, dude...

AMD tends to flame up after less than a few seconds when it doesn't have a properly inserted heatsink. Intel's thermal protection automatically reduces wattage going into the processor, effectively slowing down the processor to avoid flaming. Even though only an idiot would run a processor without a heatsink, the fact that the amd chip burns up is a testament to the quality that it is made~

its people like you who start flame wars. you can't run a athlon or a p4 without a hsf, and you're not supposed to. who cares if it burns up without one when you're not supposed to run one without it in the first place?

to install the water cooler on cpu, does the power have to be connected? just a thought
