mystical firewall built into windows xp????

Hey guys, im using XP now.....and its kinda wierd......me and my other friend that uses XP cant connect to each other, ping each other, go on each others ftps, its like we dont exist.

is there sum kinda setting we can do to fix this.....we both have the internal MS firewall off.

any help would be great

You need to supply us more info. How are you 2 connected? LAN? What?
If LAN, How LAN? What protocol? You guys got the correct IP and subnet?
 
I had trouble remotely accessing port 80 webs. Not sure why, though.

I'm using RC1. Going to switch to Windows 2000 Advanced Server when I get the laptop and load XP Pro final on the laptop. 🙂
 
right click my network places... click on your connection... properties..advanced..uncheck firewall ... enjoy
 
i wish it was that easy....both of us were unchecked when we started.

We arent on a LAN, we are just trying to get onto each others ftps.....send AIM files.....IM image link....etc
