mystery mac fa:8f:ca

Anyone know who is the manufacturer that owns fa:8f:ca? I tried a few online lookup tool to no avail.

This mac keeps changing to which ever wifi channel I change my wap to and it is stronger than my wap which is bizarre.

I just skimmed, so maybe I misread it, but either there's a Chromecast in the area, or Google is hacking your shit.

no google fiber here. I have two chromecast but I checked their mac and it doesn't show as that... I should check if the suffix match
still, why would it show up on wifi scanner if it has already been configured?


Update: it's the bloody guest mode on Chromecast. Turned that off and no more mystery broadcasting MACs. Thanks.

It is 100% a chromecast. I figured it out because I changed my routers channel and it's MAC address switched to the new channel.

It's how the chromecast desktop and mobile apps are able to program it for the first time, or it could be part of the guest mode. Google should give their version 2 or 3 devices NFC and a remote!
