Mystery Hardware...hrm

I uninstalled win ME and put 98SE back onto one of my systems. Everything worked fine, i loaded all the drivers, etc. However, for some reason windows is detecting hardware that I don't even have installed on my computer. Some kind of infrared something or other. Any suggestions?
 
By saying you "uninstalled ME" what are you saying exactly?

To go backwards you should completely re-partition, re-format, and re-install. All this ghost hardware is prolly crap in your registry. If nothing else you can go into Device Manager and remove the stuff you don't have, reboot and then do an Add/Remove hardware and see if it picks anything up again.
