Mystery cable?

a friend and i were going through a bunch of random computer hardware and came across this cable that appears to be s-video on one end and rj-11(phone connector) on the other...

wtf does this go to?

It might be one of those proprietary type connectors that isn't s-video that was designed for a specific card like a certain modem/network card/etc.

Bingo. A lot of proprietary cables look like S-Video cables.
I betcha there are only 4 pins on that "s-video" head.

4 pins on the RJ-11.

there's 6 pins on the end that looks like svideo...and 4 on the other

sounds like old APPLETALK to me.

turns out it's a cable for a barcode scanner..we found a partial part number and googled it
