Mystery Application in XP Auto Detect.

So, I must have installed something strange recently because when I plug in my external hard drive I'm getting a couple strange software options in the auto detect window.

Here is a screen-shot.

The two with <need provider> next to them with the non-standard characters are the ones at issue.

Does anyone know how to remove that from the list of options? And should I be looking for something else more devious on my system to remove?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

You didn't just recently get a Maxtor external HD, did you? There were a bunch of them released with an autoplay virus pre-installed.

Excellent.

That took care of it. Many thanks!

I haven't recently installed an external Maxtor. But if I had to guess, knowing what I know now about the handlers in my system, I think it stemmed from a relatively new install of ACDSee. A long time ago I uninstalled ACDSee. But my computer still had entries for it in my shell and probably in the handlers too. I figure that something must not have gone right during the uninstall process. And when I recently installed a newer version of ACDSee, I think there may have been some kind of conflict with the "invalid" entries and the new valid entries.

Thanks again for the input guys.

Happy Holidays!
