Time to start checking the Nuclear Power Plant workers before they come into work to see if they are more radioactive than the shift that's leaving work

Russia had a nuclear incident... not that they would tell us.

They are not prone to admitting these things proactively if at all. The disaster at Chernobyl wasn't discovered by the west until radiation alarms started going off outside a Swedish nuclear plant which finally led the Soviets to state they'd had an accident.

Isn't this the month when the Safe Containment Project over Chernobyl's old "Sarcophagus" was supposed to have been completed? Now we got some other silly thing going on :D

UPDATE:

Unexplained Radiation Leak Traced to Russian Nuclear Facility
Two years after a mysterious cloud of radiation swept through Europe, a team of scientists has pinpointed the source of the leak to a nuclear reprocessing plant in Russia, which was preparing materials for an Italian physics experiment at the time.

So not a nuclear "incident" per say, but a "simple(?)" release of radiation from piss poor handling of nuclear material.

How many more nations get to join the party? Leaking radiation is fun for the whole family!

That's an interesting way of phrasing the question.

Indeed, I reconsidered how that would sound - and rephrased my thoughts to be less hostile towards the concept of "nuclear power".

Though I guess the two are inseparable. To have a nuclear power plant IS to have concentrated nuclear fuel. And inherently there will be leaks.

the good thing is you see very few pro nuclear power people anymore. 10 years ago and they would come out of the wood work to defend nukes.

Well.. between coal and fossils... ill take next gen thorium reactors anyday... until we get fusion going.

You'll still find me as a defender. It's statistically better for everyone and the environment than coal or gas, so until we've got enough renewables for baselining our energy needs, I'd prefer them torn down and rebuilt as modern nuclear. Yes, even in my backyard.

Of course Putin has radioactive nocturnal emissions . Who would have thought differently, look at who he’s dating...

Yes, take them and shove them up your ass.

Just kidding!

No, Really, just kidding.

I am questioning my anti nuclear stance in the case of thorium reactors.

Hell, I'm hopeless Low Energy Nuclear Reaction (LENR) follower. (Essentially rename for cold fusion).

Copy that!.. However our planet cant wait another 20 to 40 years for us to get there... I think we have to chance it with the safest fission tech available to us in the interim. Bottom line, screw coal, gas and oil as of right now, at any(almost) cost...
