I have no idea what I installed or what caused it, but now I keep on getting errors when I close certain programs, like this:
http://home.earthlink.net/~quantumslip/HardOCP/mysteriouserror.JPG
Also, some programs like WinACE would close without a message, but hang in the background and use my CPU power up (100% util), which I have to terminate the process manually to stop it.

Windows XP
AMD Athlon XP@1560mhz
IWILL XP333-R
256MB DDR SDRAM OCZ 3000

Update: apparently every single program that generates that message has the same memory locations referenced in the error. anyway to check out whats at that mem location?

search for a good memory tester.. i don't personally know of any. you could also try checking your memory settings in the bios.. i dont know much about ddr im afraid.

if you've got two 128mb sticks, take one out.. (then the other) .. if youve just got one 256, i'd see if you can borrow some off a friend for a bit to test. if it starts behaving, then youve probably got a bad stick.

if it keeps it up, i'd look at the board next..

Are you overclocking? I get that error sometimes when I have overclocked too far. I think it is caused by bad RAM or trying to push the RAM too far.

I was having the same mysterious errors in XP as well, it finally became unbootable. Perhaps a new unknown trojan or something? I low level formatted my hard drives and all is good now.

Here is a link to what happened to me.. It initially appeared to be repairable my XP but only got worse. I scanned and found a trojan virus on another drive and cleaned it, but nothing showed up on the C: where all the errors occured. I have been monitoring for new errors since reinstall but none have occurred since. I have considered hardware failure as well, but nothing has reoccurred to continue diagnostic tests. I have since seen several threads where people have been having this problem suddenly, which makes me suspect virus.

IT"S YOUR RAM. My friend had the same ram, it caused so much problems / instabilities!! He thought it was his mobo IWILL XP333, so he swapped it for Shuttle 35GTR and was still getting odd errors with HL & other programs. So he swapped out the ram. And everything was normal.

Go replace your ram, with Kingston or crucial or something.

I went through the same problem. I am a former XP333-R owner. I thought it was the motherboard itself, and it wasn't. It was the RAM all along (256MB OCZ PC2700 x2) because it generated the the same problems when I switched my motherboard over to a Shuttle AK35GT-R. Hardcorecooling.com (the place I bought it) had a messed up return policy, so I had to contact OCZ to get an RMA and exchange.

I would try a different brand of RAM to see if it will generate the same error you are getting with the OCZ. I tried Crucial, and Mwave RAM, and my computer is running fine in the meantime. Some people have been getting errors too or having trouble running that RAM over at the AMDMB.COM Iwill Forum. Don't trash talk about the Iwill motherboard or they will get on your case... ;)

Yes, try Kingston, Crucial, Mushkin, or even Mwave DDR SDRAM.... The stupid thing about the PC2700 from OCZ is that they came out later with a revision 2 of my RAM. That sorta proves that the first version of their PC2700 was buggy. I will never buy from them...

One more thing, try out this program to detect errors in your RAM: MemTest86
Very useful program to find out errors and to see if your timings/OCing speed are safe...
