mysterious cpu usage SOLVED

vshah

Lifer
task manager tells me my cpu usage is 50% (on an ht cpu)

system idle is using up about 90, so that should leave my cpu usage at about 10% shouldn't it?
current progs running: iexplore, musicmatch jukebox, aim, smartripper to rip a dvd,
the cpu usages of all those summed up certainly don't approach 50%, more like 10-15, as the sysidle process would indicate.

anyone have a clue whats going on?

EDIT: Solved, smartripper.exe was only showing 5-6% cpu usage in taskmgr, when it closed, cpu usage went down...i guess it wasn't showing the full usage.. thanks guys

funny thing is the system doesn't feel sluggish at all. apps still opening quick etc. almost like an incorrect measurement

edit: i can't restart atm cause of the dvdrip in progress...i'll do that soon and see if its gone

one more note...the winlogon.exe shows its session as session #4...i'm not sure how to interpret this but i know winlogon controls user switching...
i have a feeling a restart would fix it, its been on for days, switching between local use and remote desktop use from my laptop
we'll see in a few minutes
