Mysterious connection makes everything stop working :(

I had a brand new computer, Athlon 64 3800+, Epox EP-9na+, and a Geforce 6800GT POSTing fine. I even had the motherboard logo on my monitor; at this point I noticed that I hadn't plugged in the extra power connectors on the video card.

I turned off the computer and did so, and when I tried to turn the computer on again, the fans just whir for a second, the LED POST code thing on the motherboard lights up, then the LED indicating power to the DIMM, chipset, then CPU light up, then everything shuts off again. Thinking it might've been the video card power connectors, I remove them. It does it again. Worried, I remove the video card, and it still refuses to turn on for more than half a second. I try another power supply, same thing. After crying in a fetal position for half an hour, I get up the nerve to post this thread. Please oh god I hope I didn't break anything since the first motherboard came DOA.

What's your system specs in full (all drives and cards and especially the PSU brand & model)?

Are you positive you didn't accidently ground the motherboard while you were in there? Make sure you accounted for all the mounting posts, each one should have it's own screw. Very curious about your power supply.
