Alright guys, my computer has been having some major problems recently, and I am really at a loss for what the problem could be so I'm coming to ya'll for some assistance. It's the same PC as in my sig with a PCP&C 750W PSU and a trio of HDDs.

Here is the situation (sorry if it is a bit long):

I left my computer on while at work one day, and come home to find it powered off. I start it back up and it runs for bout 10min and then off. Everything just turns off immediately. I hit the power button, the lights blink, fans come on and then immediately back off. According to the little digital numbers on my mobo, it kept getting to enbale ATX power supply, pauses for a few seconds, then off. So my immediate thought is my PSU has gone and bit the dust, but i tinker with my mobo, clear the CMOS, and try again, it gets a little further in the boot-up process and then dies, so then I begin to wonder if it's the mobo. So I unplug it and decide to wait for my friend to come take a look at it.

After a week we plug it in, power up and it seems to be working fine again for about 5 min and then once again it powers off. We run the diagnostic software he has from working on geeksquad and everything passes except for one HDD failing the smart tests. We run the diagnostics twice more, to the same result. During this time the PC is on and running for bout 1.5days without any random poweroffs. Last night I load into windows to see if I can run some other HDD diagnostic software and it has been up and running windows since.

So my question to you guys is: what exactly do you think the source of the problem is; mobo, PSU, or HDD?

The first two things that really come to mind on this is either the PSU or CPU fan/sensor.

Is the CPU fan running freely? You may want to clean it out if there's a bunch of dust around it and the Heatsink.

What have your CPU temps been like? If they've been running a bit higher than normal that could also indicate fan issues.

The other possible issue could be a HD loading down your power system. I only mention this because you mentioned some issues with one of your drives.

get a multimeter, manually test the PSU, and do not let anyone from geeksquad ever touch your pc.

What brand is the PSU

Doubt it's the mobo from the looks of it, and a faulty HDD wouldn't shut down the entire system.

CPU fan is running just fine and temps are still nice and low so I don't think fans are the issue.

The PSU is a PC Power & Cooling 750W so if it's getting loaded down by the HDD's then that PSU has definitely gone wonky on me.

I'll have to pick up a multimeter from work on monday to test it out.

I am having almost the EXACT same problem, (in fact as I was typing this on my computer it powered down. Now I'm on my laptop). It all started with my motherboard NIC dying, so I rma'ed the motherboard. ABIT said it was beyond repair and sent me a replacement. I boot up with the replacement only to be greeted by this exact same problem. If the multimeter reveals your PSU as bad, would you please post? This might be my problem as well.
