mysterious blinking case LED

in the past few weeks ive been noticing a new blinking blue lcd on the front of my case power button. Sometimes when i turn my computer off it begins blinking. But i never notice it until im in bed and the lights are off because its not too bright. This only started happening in the last few weeks, and the only way to stop the light is to power off with the PSU switch.

Why would it start blinking now all of a sudden? And why does it only do it sometimes when i turn off the computer. At first i thought it might have something to do with not turning off the monitor..

Help! Is my Antec P180 cursed with the ghost of the blue LED?

Sounds like the power button LED may have been inadvertently hooked up to the hard drive activity LED motherboard connector.

Edit: I read the OP's post wrong. Ooops! 😱

Since the blinking continues after the computer is shutdown, it's not reading harddrive activity. I don't know what the problem is, but the PS continues providing 5V current, even after being shutdown. How that is effecting the power led, I have no idea...maybe it is a ghost...or as I have sometimes thought...gremlins.

My blinking case light and hdd light are lcds. I had to use translucent tape on them to prevent their super bright blinking.

In a darken room, it's rather disturbing.
