my combo drive (lite-on sohc-5232k) is reading the disk fine so i don't think any firmware upgrade is required, and my dvd burner is physically disconnected. there are no virtual drives installed. and also have deleted/renamed the install sheild files/folders as instructed by ubisoft support.

sometimes demo32.exe gives a problem, sometimes setup.exe gives an error and is closed down by windows.
