Myrkur?

They call her style 'Black Metal'. She does some of the demon scream voice I hate, but her music is something altogether different. It can be almost classical, but with that twist that makes it some almost spooky in ways. When she sings in normal voice, it comes across as nearly choral in tone. Maybe it's the overdubbing recording.

She's Danish and doesn't sing in English, so I don't understand any of it, but I find it very peaceful and relaxing .... as long as she doesn't go demon voice.

In short, I like it. Most of it.

I appreciate black metal, and can listen to it analytically, picking out cool things and stuff I like, but I don't enjoy listening to it recreationally. Too loud.

I'll give it a listen later when I get some free time. Mellow black metal sounds like it would be up my alley :^)

I have her folk album...

I think it was IronWing that turned me on to it. I've gotten a few good tips from him. Y'all should pay attention when he posts something musical.

Amalie is bigger than mere metal.

Amalie, Simone and Floor together could cause the planets to de-align and the stargate to erupt.

Add in Lzzy and Annke and well ... time eternal would be at risk.

So, gang... is it appropriate to describe metalcore bands as metal?
Yeah, metal today is most music that has a certain aggressive vibe/edge in the sound.

Next year the Prodigy is headlining Copenhell, and is while they are not metal in traditional sense, their aggressive sound fits a metal festival perfectly.

Also a band like Electric Callboy, that mixes pop, edm and death core is still metal imo.

I think it is refreshing to see bands playing and mixing the genres, and artists should do exactly what they feel like.

I didn't listen to Myrkurs 'folkesange' because while they are beautiful, I found them quite boring.
Her newest album is not my favorite either, even though I can hear the qualities, as I prefer the more raw sound on her earlier albums.
