FAIL!

Not reading any disc of any kind.

Thinking of going out and getting a slim, repairing the laser in the 40Gb phat and either having a spare in the bedroom, move slim into living room, or ebay the 40Gb when fixed.

Pain in the ass tho. It's about 22 months old.

No 40GB has BC. All 60 and 20 do, some 80 (older ones, obviously). Nothing else.

Ah yes, I remember now. They had the 80GB for $499 with some BC and 40GB for $399 with no BC. Good times.

So today I went to get MW2 for £26 and they were selling the 120Gb slim for £199. Bought it on the spot. WIN!

Now, should I ebay the phatty faulty and take the hit or repair the laser, then sell. I'm thinking sell it faulty and save the hassle.

The disc drive breaking seems to be the most common problem for the PS3 and Wii. It has the most moving parts. I would have just fixed it though. Probably much cheaper than dropping £199 on the slim.

When you sell your 40gb PS3, just make it clear to the buyer the laser is broken. We had at least one douche on here bragging he sold a fubared 360 without telling the buyer.

LOL! I remember that thread. He came on here bragging and expecting kudos, and instead he got owned over and over again in the thread.

Classic.

Theres no way I'd ever sell an item and make out it was working. I have perfect 60 ebay feedback and intend to keep it!

The Slim worked out, as the official repair is £100, and I should get ~£80-90 if I sell as faulty. The laser module will be ~£50, plus my time and trouble, so really I don't mind paying £50 extra for a newer model with a 3x size HDD, smaller form factor and a new warranty.
