Why has Ford not updated MyFord Touch to be Windows Phone 7/8 based? This seems like a no brainer to me.

WP7 runs on cheap hardware, is consistently fast and responsive, touch based, and looks far better than any current car touch interface.

With the beating Ford has taken over MFT you would think this would be a fast-track item considering they already have a partnership with Microsoft for the current somewhat glitchy implementation. Ford gets an OS that doesn't suck and MS gets metro out in front of more people.

If they did I would want MFT in my car.

Most people have little experience with Windows Phone 7, Win 8 or the Metro UI, but it's very clean and provides a lot of info through the tile system. I would especially love to have Zune tied directly to my car audio on an integrated touch screen. If they don't come out with one, I'll probably just swap out my Nexus 7 and replace it with a Surface tablet when they come out October 26th.

Probably but they spent hundreds of millions* having Microsoft develop MFT.

Not that I'm saying that's a worthwhile justification. I do think that MFT, now that it's a few versions deep (like any software), is pretty good.
