my xp1900+ only post at xp1700+ at 8kha+?

I just build my new rig with 8kha+ 1900+(unlocked but haven't OC yet) in bio I put it 133x12, I also set the jumper to 133 on the MB but everytime I boot the bio screen post it's 133x11=xp 1700+


please help? don't know what's wrong!

U r pretty sure u get a XP1900+ ? Wht bios u r running ?

Yep make sure you`ve the latest bios,you could also try clearing the CMOS and see if that helps.

as you probably know it should be running at 133x12 = 1.6ghz = pr1900+

my guess is that its not unlocked, but that in your attempt to unlock it you changed it to a 11x multiplier

I have to ask -- what jumper are you talking about? I don't think there are any jumpers on the 8kha+ that pertain to cpu bus or multiplier.

I know this doesnt help, but its interesting: On my other system (p3 700 fcpga on tyan s1854) the cpu will NOT run at its default speed (700). It will only boot if the FSB is at least 112 (7 x 112 = 784MHz). Like I said, not helpful but interesting =)

I agree with Boonesmi
it's very likely that you didn't unlock the chip properly...

this was common with the thunderbirds...not correctly connecting the L1's often resulted in an underclocking of the multiplier. if only unlocking the xp was as easy as the tbird

JCK1 on the 8kha+ sets the host clock from 100Mhz (default) or 133Mhz. JCK1 set to 1-2 is for 100 Mhz and 2-3 for 133 Mhz.

I'm running epox 8kha+ 1-8-02 latest official bios. also tried 11/30/01 and 1/06/02 all these bios can't detect my xp1900+... I guess i need to redo the unlocking! btw, anyway to check the unlocking success or not? I don't have a device to check

When I originally started messing with oveclocking I was told the only way to tell if you were successful is if your computer works. I am not aware of anything to check your overclock other then that. It would be neat if you could invent a device to test it tho.

To test if your overclock is stable try prime 95 or SETI@home.

I could be wrong, but i think in the THG video guide to unlocking the XP one of the last steps is to test the resistance with a multimeter to make sure you did it right.... it can be found here
