i have an xbox 360 wireless receiver that is nearly a year old. it's plugged into an externally powered usb 2.0 hub. it was working fine until yesterday evening. i was playing audiosurf and noticed that my controller's led was blinking/spinning instead of staying fixed on one quadrant. this has happened in the past and is usually corrected if i reinsert the wireless receiver. i removed the usb plug and put it back in.

however, when i reinserted the plug for the receiver, nothing happened. the light on the receiver does not go on. i've tried the receiver on two other computers and on different usb ports (both on the hub and on the motherboard and also on pci usb cards). nothing happens upon insertion. i've read about flaky problems with the receiver (mostly related to driver installation and usb issues when plugged into motherboard-powered usb ports), but i've had no issues with it until now. microsoft won't replace it b/c i don't have a registered 360 console and b/c separately purchased accessories only carry a 90 day warranty.

does anyone have any ideas as to how i can go about fixing it or even how i can take this apart for examination? right now, it looks like my only recourse is to buy another receiver (this time i'll probably consider spend some money on an extended warranty due to this dieing only 11 months after purchase).

thanks
