Hi all. I bought a Jasper Xbox 360 about 5 months ago to replace a 360 that died. Been running great for months. Last night i'm watching TV and I see the 360 turning on. I think, oops, must have laid on the controller or the xbox remote. But, the batteries on the controllers are being charged and the remote has no batteries in it. So I turn it off by pushing the button and lo and behold it turns on again. Not only does it turn on, but the first controller light is on, as if it was turned on my a game pad. I put a battery in my game pad and push the button and the controller is now #2. I disconnect controller from the 360, shut off the 360 and quickly turn the 360 on with the controller which is now controller #1. BUT, controller light #2 is on also. I only have 2 controllers and the second one doednt even have a battery. I took all the controllers and removed the batteries. Unplugged the 360 for a few hours, plug it back in and it turns on with one controllers light. as soon as I press the power button it turns off, then in a few seconds it turns on. It is a Jasper. I disconnected the HDMI cable and the regular video cable and it does the same thing. WTF is going on? is this yet another known problem? Is there a fix? HELP! Thanks.

Ghosts?

Could be some sort of RF interference or a loose wire. I used to have a satellite box that did this.

Dont think so. I just have a cable box which I shut off thinking maybe it was getting a weird signal but te 360 still keeps turning on. The odd thing is that the controller light on the unit is on also even tho my controllers have the batteries out. Guess i'll call MS and get the white coffin. They better send me a new Jasper with HDMI. I dont want some 2006 360.

Any neighbors in close proximity? Do you have a wireless router or any wifi?

I have wifi, same wifi setup ive had for years. My neighbors are all ancient and highly doubt they have a 360. I have another 360 that I setup to see if its some interference but it works just fine, just doesnt have HDMI. I also disconnected the HDMI cable but still have the same prob. It should be the on/off button on the console as I never use it. Also the fact that when it does turn on by itself it shows as a controller is connected even though non are. Just weird. Google hasnt turned up much on this issue, neither does MS (no surprise there). Well, I still have 6 months on the warranty. I'll give MS a buzz later. I am just worried I will get some old POS 360 back instead of a similar ver.

MS is trying a little too hard to keep the Jaspers from dying.

that's really strange, how long has it been happening? Could be one of your ancient neighbors has a young visitor who brought a 360 and it is interfering, would be strange but funny.

Ok, I feel like a complete dickwad. I had an old wireless rockband guitar that (so I thought) I busted a year ago. It was in my closet across the hall and still had some batteries in it. Even tho I pretty much took it completely apart and it was busted, I had recently gone in the closet to get some boxes out and must have move it around and somehow it started working. I looked for it yesterday and saw that a corner of a box was indeed pressing on the button and that it was the cause of the 360 turning on all the time. I am still kinda freaked because that guitar is literally in pieces and only 2 batteries, not the normal 3, are in it, but the movement must have cause a short and apparently it had enough juice and perfect timing of the box on the button to cause this. Anyway, thanks for the help. The guitar is now in a landfill somewhere in Staten Island.

LOL - nice!

Don't feel bad, my wife did the same type of thing to me a couple months back. She had been cleaning and put one of the 360 controllers in a box and threw a bunch of games and stuff on top of it.
