I recently purchased and built a new rig. The building process and the OS installation was flawless. Infact, everything with this rig was perfect with the exception of one thing.
MY RIG WON'T GAME.
My new rig is a venice core 3200+ with a A8N-e and a x800xl. All the drivers in my computers (with the exception of my mobo, which I haven't flashed yet) are up to date. I installed warcraft 3 on my new rig this morning, and the game ran fine- then I decided to restart my computer.
After my computer booted, I tried to run WC3 again. This time, I got the launcher to come up, but as soon as the game loads, I get kicked onto my desktop. The game is still running, and my desktop is normal... WC3 just stays on my taskbar minimized and everytime I try to open it, it minimizes and locks me out.
So I fiddled around with my control panel and my ATI catalyst 5.7 : no luck 🙁
Then one of my friends suggested that I run the DirectX diagnostic tool (START>>RUN>>dxdiag). I passed the DirectDraw test, but everytime I run the Direct3D test, I would get a popup telling me that I cancelled the by pressing a button (lies). So I suspected that that was the problem.
Next thing I did was reinstall my video card. RIGHT after I finished installing my video card, I decided to run WC3 again- and lo' and behold... the game runs!!! I quickly try to run the Direct3D test in the dianogstic tool again, I pass all 3 tests! At this moment, everything was running perfect in my PC. So I restarted my computer to see if this happy moment would stick; Sadly, it did not.
My pc continues to lock me out of WC3 by minimizing the game constantly, and my pc continues to tell me that "You cancelled the test by pressing a key". So please, can anyone tell me what is wrong with my computer? and most importantly how to solve this problem?
