Long read, get a mountain dew and begin...
I work at this telemarketing place (go head & hate me
) and people drink alot of Pepsi products, and they would throw away their bottles in the garbage can. And I've been dumpster diving to get it, it was a little embarassing at first, but I don't drink soda because I'm on a diet (I've lost 55 pounds since May). So this is primary way I get the orange caps. Well, after I told my supervisor why I was doing this, he decided he was gonna try to win an X-Box 360 too. So while I'm I'm taking calls he would be dumpster diving and asking people if he can have their bottle caps when they're done. I'm Lao, so I'm really shy about asking people about it. I got only a few caps that way.
Since, my supervisor was getting alot of the bottle caps before me, I went to a park that's near where I live and dumpster dive there. Remember, I don't drink soda so I'm at a disadvantage in a contest like this. Just a little desperate
I didn't get much thought, maybe 20 total out of the 3 times I did that. My supervisor finally entered all his points in a drawing but he didn't win. But he still had about 250 bottle caps that he didn't use yet. I decided to buy some from him since time was running out. I paid him $15 and got about 180 caps.
Now, I reached 500 points! I had used 17 points at the beginning so I had 483 points I can use for the drawing. I decide to enter all my remaining 483 points in one go. I've been keeping track of drawing entries, so I know that 4 or 5 AM would be the best time to enter my points because those times have the less entries. On the morning after I paid for the caps, October 14 at 5:40AM, I entered my points. There was about 2250 total entries during that time and 483 of those were mine, so I was feeling pretty good. Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! Someone from Lincoln, NE won that time slot and I am from Lincoln, NE! I was so sure it was me, I was so happy.
But, something goes deadly wrong:-( They don't confirm that people won until 3 days later, so October 17 comes and I don't get any confirmation in my Account History! At this point, I was beginning to have doubts but I was still sure it was me. I mean I had almost 1 in 4 chance of winning, and the winner live in the same city as me. I had gotten the Yahoo email account a long time before this contest and decided to check out my account profile. I had completely forgotten to update my account! For security purposes I didn't put my real name and I didn't put my address on it! I thought I was disqualified, I was so bummed out. I updated my profile with my name and address and crossed my fingers.
I woke up on October 18 and the first thing I did was check my Account History, but still nothing. I checked it hourly and was losing hope. It was late afternoon I was a few minutes from going to work. I really wasn't expecting anything different, I checked my Account History and finally I got CONFIRMATION that I had won and X-Box 360. I was so happy, I was screaming like a crazy monkey. I wanted to make sure there was no mistakes so I call the number that you can change the address of the delivery. I talked to the woman on the phone and she said if they don't have an address on file, then that person would not be eligible for the contest. They couldn't confirm I won because they didn't have my name and address on file that's why it was late. But since I updated my Yahoo email account everything was ok and I'm GLAD I HAVE ON MY HIMALAYAN WALKING SHOES!!!
Whew. That was long. I have a really crappy TV and I don't want to spend money on new HD TV. I want to save my money for a car, so unfortunately I have to sell the X-Box 360. How much do you think I can sell this on Ebay? This is not an advertisement, there is no link. Just curious.
