my wondows are animated and i cant stop it.

My windows animate when they open. I hate , so I shut it off.

BUT, a few hrs later it's back on.

If I clear the "Animate windows when minimizing and maximising" checkbox in Control Panel \ System \ Advanced tab \ Performance settings \ Visual effects), the box is rechecked randomly. Annoying.

Article 187222 in Knowledge Base provides solutions for this problem in Win 98 but it recurs in XP:
